Overview

The Internet and the development of corporate intranets is beginning to drive the broad enterprise wide adoption of document management and collaborative knowledge management systems. In particular, the competitive need for companies nowadays to create  ‘enterprise portals’ is beginning to put the focus on web-based document management systems. The deployment and integration of these much rejuvenated systems, which include Documentum, Filenet. OpenText and PC Docs, will create many opportunities for talented Document Management and  Workflow professionals with the ability to take up the Internet challenge.

At the same time, the growing importance of Intranets and corporate data is fuelling the need for companies to leverage all forms of digital content via the provision of effective content management solutions. Consequently there are also many opportunities for specialist Content Management consultants. 

Role Responsibilities

The responsibilities of Document Management & Workflow Consultants include: 

  • Planning, design and implementation of Web-based enterprise Document Management, Imaging and Workflow applications based on one of the market leading products
  • Providing technical leadership and project managing assignments
  • Providing thought leadership and guidance on issues relating to Document and Workflow management
  • Roles with consultancies will typically involve building long term relationships with clients and gaining an in-depth understanding of their business and technology needs. This will also involve supporting account managers, bid managers and sales teams to win business.
  • Writing of clear and concise reports and proposals together with the delivery of presentations to gain the clients’ acceptance
  • In addition, the responsibilities of a specialist Content Management Consultant include:

  • Planning, design and implementation of Web-based enterprise Content Management Solutions
  • Providing technical leadership in projects involving the management of multimedia content for the Internet and print publishing environments.
  • Experience Indicators

    Document Management Consultants should ideally demonstrate:

  • Ideally 5 plus years’ commercial experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in the planning, design and implementation of large enterprise wide Document Management, Imaging and Workflow solutions based on the market leading products such as Documentum, Filenet, OpenText, PC Docs, Viewstar & Staffware
  • Proven track record in delivering DM and Workflow solutions in a client-server or distributed processing environment.
  • Hands-on experience in any of the major RDBMS’s including Oracle and DB2
  • Content Management Consultants should ideally demonstrate:

  • Ideally 5 plus years’ commercial experience
  • Specialist content management experience with one of the major Content / Document Management & E-Business  packages including Documentum, Interwoven, Vignette, ATG Dynamo and Blue Martini.
  • Full lifecycle experience
  • Workflow and process experience
  • Knowledge of Internet tools and personalisation packages such as Clickstream, Net Perceptions, Microstrategy, E.piphany & Personify.
  • Proven track record in delivering solutions in a client-server or distributed processing environment using languages such as  C++, ASP, JavaScript, HTML, Active X, VB, XML, Cold Fusion or Java.
  • Experience with multimedia and digital content management systems that manage images, audio, text and video
