Overview

The Web-enablement and integration of major ERP systems with front-office and supply chain management systems is creating numerous opportunities for ERP systems architects for experienced ERP Systems Architects who can provide technical leadership within ERP engagements

Role Responsibilities

The role of ERP Systems Architect is typically a customer facing role within consultancies that includes:

  • Technical leadership within SAP R/3, BAAN, PeopleSoft or JD Edwards engagements
  • Planning and implementation of customer’s client-server architecture and environment
  • Systems operations
  • Performance
  • Integration
  • Security
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance on issues relating to the performance and integration of ERP solutions
  • Roles with consultancies will typically involve building long term relationships with clients and gaining an in-depth understanding of their business and technology needs. This will also involve supporting account managers, bid managers and sales teams to win business.
  • Experience Indicators

  • Proven expertise in providing technical leadership within major ERP engagements
  • Certification in the architecture of at least one ERP package (for example SAP BASIS certification)
  • Certification in the underlying technology components of at least one major ERP package
  • Extensive experience in the planning, design and implementation of ERP technical architectures
  • Experience of capacity planning of the hardware infrastructure and network to support an ERP implementation
  • Experience of designing and implementing highly scaleable architectures involving high availability and disaster recovery features
  • Practical experience of implementing development and production environments for large scale ERP systems implementations
  • Experience of integrating the ERP package with other systems, including legacy systems, including an understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of the options that are available to carry out the integration
  • Proven experience in large, commercial systems
  • Strong knowledge of UNIX, TCP/IP
  • Knowledge of RDBMS’s such as Oracle, Sybase, Informix
  • Knowledge of middleware architecture and experience of developing and deploying distributed systems
  • Ideally provide expertise in one or more middeware specialities including BMC and Tivoli
  • Knowledge of E-Business enablers (in particular, BizTalk and XML) is advantageous
