We are particularly challenged with resourcing vacancies for experienced Java Architects who can take the technical lead role Java Architecture and eBusiness implementation projects.

Role Responsibilities

  • taking a major role or lead in Java architecture and the delivery of Java-based eBusiness solutions and implementation projects
  • Contribute to the development of reusable components, models, methods and templates that are related to delivering Java project consulting and design
  • Development of technical architectures based on an assessment of the customer or business needs
  • Provide technical leadership in areas such as technical design, configuration and implementation
  • Experience Indicators

  • 5 plus years’ relevant commercial design and development experience in Java (preferably including C++ , Active Server Pages, Visual Basic & HTML)
  • 12 months’ experience designing and developing Server-side Java oriented solutions
  • Proven experience of designing and developing large scale distributed systems including client-server or n-tier solutions and scalable, secure and extensible component based architectures, using distributed object technologies such as CORBA or COM/DCOM
  • Experience of EJB (Enterprise JavaBeans) or other major application server technologies such as MTS
  • Experience of OO development tools, methodologies and CASE tools (preferably Rational Rose)
  • Experience gained in a structured method environment (such as UML, RUP or OMT)
  • Extensive development experience gained on UNIX and/or Windows NT
  • Experience gained in any of the following areas is desirable:

  • Client-side Java
  • Experience or awareness of Java-based application servers  (such as JDeveloper,, JBuilder or WebGain’s VisualCafe),
  • IIOP (and preferably some knowledge of SOAP), JDK, JMS, JTS and RMI
  • Experience of additional technologies, including XML, Java Servlets, XSLT, WML, JINI & JNDI  is advantageous
  • Knowledge of relational or object databases e.g. Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, ObjectStore, Objectivity
  • Personal
