Overview

There is an ongoing need for experienced business oriented Technical Architects with specialist expertise in the planning, design and Microsoft based technical architectures. 

Role Responsibilities

  • Taking a major role or lead in the planning, design and implementation of entire Microsoft based technical architectures and solutions. Alternatively the Microsoft Architect may perform a specialist role in specific areas
  • Development of technical architectures based on an assessment of the customer or business needs
  • Detailed sizing and selection of technical components required to support the implementation of the architecture
  • Implementation, configuration and testing of the technical architecture
  • Provide technical leadership in areas such as technical design, configuration and implementation
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance on Microsoft product capabilities and strategic direction
  • Experience Indicators

  • 5 plus years’ relevant commercial design and development experience
  • Proven expertise in the development of Microsoft based technical architectures
  • Proven ability in appraising the development options for large scale Microsoft based systems implementations and in the sizing and performance tuning of the Microsoft environments needed to support them.
  • Proven experience of designing and developing large scale distributed systems including client-server or n-tier solutions and scalable, secure and extensible component based architectures using distributed object technologies (such as CORBA or COM/DCOM
  • Experience of MTS and/or other major application server technologies such as  EJB (Enterprise JavaBeans).
  • Expert knowledge of one or more of the major Microsoft products, including Microsoft based middleware (COM, MSMQ, MTS, ADO, OLE-DB, Tuxedo), NT  or NT,  Middleware. This should include deep knowledge of their configuration options, capability, and strategic direction
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Clustering (WolfPack)
  • Extensive development experience gained on  Windows NT
  • Experience gained in any of the following areas is desirable:

  • Experience of implementing major ERP packages in an NT environment
  • Experience of XML and any experience of the Microsoft.NET platform
  • Knowledge of relational or object databases e.g. Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, ObjectStore, Objectivity
  • MCSE or MCSD qualified
  • Personal
