Overview

The demands of E-Business is rapidly changing the focus of integration from an activity concerned with the linking of applications and processes within an organisation to one that provides integration beyond corporate boundaries. This will create an enormous demand for a wide variety of EAI Architects who can help companies integrate E-Business processes with back office applications such as ERP packages.

Role Responsibilities

  • Technical design of EAI and B2B integration application development projects
  • Development of applications and technical architectures to meet the customer or business needs
  • Provide technical leadership in areas relating to Enterprise Application Integration
  • Provide subject matter expertise and technical thought leadership in areas relating to Enterprise Application Integration; with the Consultancies, this will include service positioning, pricing, service capabilities, competitive positioning and technology roadmapping.
  • Experience Indicators

    Experience of large scale distributed systems including strong client-server or n-tier application development experience

  • Extensive practical experience in the planning, design and implementation of middleware architectures to produce highly secure, scalable and resilient  environments.
  • Ability to select, configure  and performance tune middleware components
  • Experience of using middleware to integrate ERP packages with  other software
  • Knowledge of middleware transport options  (MOM, RPC, Request/Reply)
  • Knowledge of transaction integrity (2PC, XA),
  • Understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of different middleware approaches: heavy objects (CORBA) vs. components (EJB/COM)  vs. traditional (MOM, RPC, etc.)
  • Knowledge of directory (LDAP,  NDS) and security (Kerberos, SSL) services.
  • Ability to select, configure  and performance tune middleware components
  • Strong development skills including Java, C++ and Perl .
  • Detailed knowledge and development experience of at least one of the EAI vendor product ranges (Vitria, IBM, Microsoft, BEA, TIBCO, IONA, Tuxedo and Neon) and an understanding of their implementation and configuration issues
  • Certification in any of the major vendors middleware products is advantageous
  • Senior EAI Architects should demonstrate over 5 years’ experience that includes previous responsibility for guiding all technical aspects of  r B2B or other EAI integration application development projects.
  • Many companies will provide Middleware & EAI training to candidates with strong Java or C++ development skills
